Homeownership Equality Research Organization [HERO] fights to increase homeownership for Blacks, Latinos, and the disadvantaged by working with lenders to close loans that wouldn’t close without us and overcome historic roadblocks through services such as: downpayment assistance, debt relief, cash reserve improvement and covering loan fees. We increase the acceptance rates for minorities in low-income areas to promote homeownership and break the cycle of poverty. Our mission is to bring to underserved households the most important symbol of the American Dream – homeownership.
The homeownership gap between Blacks and other ethnic groups in the US is approaching 25%. That’s 1 in 4 Black households rents when other races own. Black homeownership matters. Study after study has shown that homeownership is the key to wealth accumulation, and wealth accumulation is the key to real and lasting social and economic change.
Good intentions aren’t enough. This problem is as old as homeownership in America and will not be easy to overcome, nor the solution cheap, but together we can do this! HERO is passionate in our drive to provide effective solutions, one applicant at a time, that put real people in real homes making a real difference.
